Domican Republic

We did our first excursion in the D.R. We went to Cayo Levantado which was a small private island off the coast of Samana. It had great sand, comfy chairs, and most importantly no rain.

We invented a lot of beach games to keep ourselves occupado however we took time to enjoy a virgin pina colada in a pineapple. This is kind of a great way to live life right here.

The rain was pounding Samana, but oddly enough our ship and Cayo Levantado escaped the pelting for a while.

Travis decided to join the band. Why not? We had some time to kill.

We eventually decided to leave once this cloud was over the island.

We washed up and went over to Samana. Very very poor. Extremely poor. This picture is deceiving. It was good to see though. It was almost like going home again. I felt like I had wandered those streets before in Uruguay. We enjoyed talking to some of the locals about the living conditions and culture. I suppose lately I have been having a hard time identifying happiness and blessings in my life. This was just a small reminder to be grateful for the things I still do have.
We didn't travel in style, but it could have been fun.
Horse tied up along the highway. Seriously, are you sure we aren't in Uruguay?

Last stop, Haiti!
